Our Commitment to Accurate Information
Every article on this website is written to provide educational resources on addiction and to explain what treatment at North Georgia Recovery Center may involve. Whether you’re researching care for yourself or for someone you love, you deserve information you can trust. This page explains how we write, review, and maintain the content we publish.
Content Authorship and Review
Our articles are written by professional writers with backgrounds in journalism and healthcare communication. Each article carries a byline naming the writer, and each writer has a short bio describing their education and experience.
Our writers are not clinicians. Their role is to research each topic, write clearly, and work with our clinical team so the final article is accurate.
Before any article is published, a member of our clinical team reviews it for accuracy. The reviewer’s name appears in each article’s byline beside the writer’s.
What Clinical Review Covers
Clinical review confirms that an article’s medical information is accurate and consistent with accepted practice as of the date of review. A reviewer’s name on an article means they reviewed it for accuracy at that time. It doesn’t mean the reviewer is giving you medical advice, has evaluated your situation, or endorses every outside source the article links to.
Because research and clinical guidelines change, an article may not reflect information published after its most recent review. Our writers are responsible for an article’s wording and sources, and our clinical reviewers are responsible for confirming its clinical accuracy at the time of review.
Reading our content or commenting on it does not create a provider-patient relationship between you and North Georgia Recovery Center or any member of our clinical team.
Content Sourcing and Evidence Standards
We base medical and statistical information on primary sources as much as possible, and we link to them so you can check them yourself. Our preferred sources include:
- Federal health agencies, such as the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
- Peer-reviewed research published in medical and scientific journals
- Professional organizations in addiction medicine and mental health
Our articles link to outside sources so you can read the original research and guidance. We don’t control those websites and aren’t responsible for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices. A link to another website doesn’t mean we endorse it.
Updates and Corrections
Research on addiction and treatment changes over time. Because of this, we can’t promise that every article will always reflect the most current information. We do our best to review published articles regularly and update information that has become out of date.
If you find an error in our content, please contact us at [email protected]. We review every report, and if we confirm an error, we correct the article and note the correction at the bottom of the page.
Our Use of AI Tools
Our writers may use AI tools to help with tasks like outlining and organizing research. AI tools don’t publish content on our site. Every article is written and fact-checked by a human writer and reviewed by our clinical team before publication, and our writers verify sources against the original material.
